Why is my charging session at a Tesla Supercharger not appearing in Northe?
If you drive a Tesla and charge at a Tesla Supercharger, your vehicle may automatically start charging as soon as you plug in.
In this case, the charging session is started through Tesla's own charging and payment system. As a result, the session is billed using your Tesla payment setup and will not be recorded or invoiced through Northe.
How can I make sure the charging session at a Tesla Supercharger is billed through Northe?
If you want the charging session to be processed through Northe because you use a business charging profile with company invoicing, you must start the charging session in the Northe app or alternatively with an RFID tag, before plugging your vehicle into the charger.
Recommended charging flow
- Open the Northe app.
- Find and select the Tesla charging station.
- Start the charging session in the app.
- Plug the charging cable into your vehicle.
- Charging will continue under the Northe payment and invoicing flow.
Why do I need to start charging before plugging in?
Tesla vehicles support automatic charging and payment at Tesla Superchargers. When you plug in first, the vehicle immediately identifies itself and starts charging using the payment method configured in your Tesla account.
Because the session is already active, Northe cannot take over the payment and billing process afterwards.
Can I use the automatic charging experience and still charge through Northe?
This depends on Tesla's charging and payment setup.
Some Tesla vehicles and accounts may support configuring a different default payment method for charging. If Northe can be configured as the default payment method, you may be able to use the automatic charging experience while having charging sessions processed through Northe.
As Tesla controls the charging and payment configuration for Tesla Superchargers, Northe cannot confirm whether this option is available for your vehicle or account.
We recommend contacting Tesla directly to learn which payment options are supported and whether an alternative default payment method can be configured.
What should I do until then?
Until you have confirmed with Tesla that an alternative payment method can be used, always start the charging session in the Northe app before plugging in at a Tesla Supercharger.
This ensures that the charging session is billed through Northe and can be included in your company charging reports and invoices.
