How to Assign, Unassign and Deactivate Charge Keys
Charge keys can easily be moved between drivers and vehicles, allowing you to reuse them when someone leaves the fleet - no need to order a new one. Below are instructions for assigning, unassigning, and deactivating charge keys, along with an explanation of charge key statuses.
You’ll find these new options in the Tools tab of the Northe portal.
Understanding Charge Key statuses
- Active: The charge key is assigned to a driver or vehicle and is ready for use.
- Inactive: The charge key has been assigned but must be activated by the driver in the Northe App.
- Unassigned: The charge key is not currently linked to any driver or vehicle and is ready for assignment.
How to Assign a Charge Key
Assign a charge key to a driver or vehicle by following these steps:
- Go to the Tools tab and select Charge Keys
- Go to the Unassigned tab
- Find the Charge key you want to assign and click on the three dots.
- Select Assign to driver/vehicle
- Assign the Charge Key to a Driver or Vehicle by submitting the correct information in the form.
How to Unassign a Charge Key
Unassigning a key removes the link to a driver or vehicle, making it available for reuse. To unassign a key:
- Go to the Tools tab and select Charge Keys
- Go to the Assigned tab
- Find the Charge key you want to unassign and click on the three dots.
- Select 'Remove from driver/vehicle'
- Click 'Remove' to unassign the charge key.
How to report a Charge Key as Lost/Stolen
If a charge key is lost, stolen, or not returned when a driver or vehicle leaves the fleet, you can permanently deactivate it to ensure it can’t be misused. To deactivate a charge key:
- Go to the Tools tab and select Charge Keys
- Go to the Assigned tab or the Unassigned tab if the charge key is not currently assigned to a driver/vehicle.
- Find the Charge key you want to deactivate and click on the three dots.
- Select 'Report stolen/lost' and then confirm by clicking 'Report'.
